Our Deepest Fear

I rewatched one of my favorite movies today. I had forgotten how much I loved Coach Carter when I watched it so many years ago.

I can’t stop crying. It is an amazingly beautiful movie full of fierce love, courage, and dedication. There is so much to learn from this movie; it’s on the list of movies I’d want my kids to watch.

I also love the secular version of Marianne Williams’ quote on our deepest fear:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I want to learn to live and love fiercely. I want to achieve that elusive victory within.

Thinking Out Loud + I’m Not The Only One

This mash-up of “Thinking Out Loud” and “I’m Not the Only One” is just jaw-dropping.

I am completely blown away by the beauty of this performance.

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Why Ya Wanna

.

“Why Ya Wanna” by Jana Kramer

Why ya gotta, why ya wanna make me keep wanting you.

Sia – Chandelier

My friend G sent me this video a week ago, and I can’t stop watching it. The dancing is so exquisite….and so hauntingly beautiful. I will be the first to admit that the face of the child is at times super creepy, but overall absolutely love it. I also think the camera work in this music video is freaking amazing. I love it.

The song is also superb. It kind of stays in your head for a while. The lyrics are so relatable; it kind of kills me how much I can relate to the song.

Anyway, hope y’all like it too!

“Scratch” by Kendall Payne

I’ve been listening to this song nonstop tonight.

.

I realize that I sometimes watch TV shows when I feel this urge to cry. I think I like the idea of crying over something specific more than crying over just a feeling in my gut. Anyway, Grey’s Anatomy is filled with episodes that can get me sobbing in a matter of seconds.

So I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy a lot the last couple of days…

Anyway. I thought I’d share this song.

Dan + Shay – “19 You + Me”

I am absolutely obsessed with this song. I love the idea of a perfect summer with someone.

.

I genuinely love how easy it is to listen to the song.

Love Like Crazy – Lee Brice

Recently I heard this song on Pandora…and it brought back so many memories. “Love Like Crazy” is a song I was intensely obsessed with a couple years ago. I just thought I’d share because I’ve become reobsessed with the song. I love the chorus:

“Be her best friend, tell the truth, overuse ‘I love you,’ go to work, do your best, don’t outsmart your common sense, never let your prayer knees get lazy, and love like crazy.”

.

Hope you love it as much as I do.

Frozen – Musical feat. Disney Princesses

I recently came across this video.

.

The summarizing line is, “I am who I am, I don’t need a man.”

I think this video presents a very valid criticism of the Disney Princesses, as a lot of the messages from Disney movies took agency away from Princesses, as they were always saved by the Prince. Their lives only consisted of “true love,” and sometimes portrayed very unhealthy relationships.

Condom Ad

I recently came across this video and thought it was both hilarious and kind of brilliant.

Everybody, safe sex is serious business to prevent unwanted pregnancy and spread of sexually transmitted infections and HIV.

.

Condoms can protect you in important ways even if they can’t protect you from embarrassing yourself or from velociraptors.

Lindsay Price – Someone Like Me

I’ve been watching Lipstick Jungle. I know it’s a corny show, but it kind of reminds me of high school, when I watched the show. Lindsay Price’s character is definitely my favorite, Victory Ford. I genuinely love her passion and loyalty, and I can only hope to be as passionate and wonderful as she is.

Anyway, Lindsay Price actually sang a song for the show, and I kind of like it. It’s sweet and really corny, and I just happen to like sweet and corny.
