Shrinking Women

This is sincerely one of the best slam poems I’ve heard in a long time. It’s called “Shrinking Women” by Lily Meyers, performed at the 2013 CUPSI tournament. This performance was promoted by Button Poetry, which you should all check out by the way because they help promote and produce spoken word performances. Complete side note: I met the executive director, Sam Cook when he came to perform at WashU in December of 2012, and he was so so cool!

Anyway, I wanted to share this video with everyone because of how painfully true it is. How gender roles exist in the world today, and how I see women slowly disappearing all the time. I can’t even begin to speak to the issues Lily Meyers addresses, so I will let you just hear her words directly.

Here is the video of “Shrinking Women.”
