Friend Zone & Rape Culture

Dylan Garity discusses the idea of “friend zone” and how the way we talk about “friend zone” contributes to rape culture. This poem explores the ways in which we as a culture think of sex as a prize or something of that nature for being a good guy. Sex is an interaction of two (or more) people who all consent. It is not an item given to someone by another person as a reward for doing something for them. Right? If you think you are owed sex for being a good friend, you might want to reexamine your definition of friend and sex.
